Dear Parents,
Welcome Riverview Elementary School (RvES) students and parents! I hope you and your children are excited about the new school year as we celebrate our third birthday! I speak for our entire faculty and staff as I welcome back old friends and extend a heartfelt greeting to our new students and families. The 2012-13 school year begins our third year in Dawson County’s newest elementary school and you have the opportunity to join our efforts to make this year another special and memorable one.
As I welcome you, I want to tell you a little about our staff and myself. My entire education career (21 years and counting) has been spent in Dawson County serving at all 4 of our elementary schools. The staff of Riverview will be a composite of experience and leadership from all of our elementary schools and wonderful systems beyond our county. They will bring not only their expertise but also a true passion for teaching and learning.
Any great school not only needs the dedication of a great staff but enthusiastic parent involvement as well. To that end we extend a sincere invitation for your participation as a parent volunteer. Your assistance for school activities such as book fairs, art shows, parent/teacher/student events, as well as in grade level activities is always needed highly encouraged. As we gear up for our second school year, more information will be forthcoming with additional details regarding ways you can join our village.
Our school system’s vision is Pursuing Excellence for All as we strive “to be an exemplary school district, with outstanding staff, that prepares students to compete globally.” Striving to provide quality instruction that results in achievement for all is our system mission. On an individual level, Riverview Elementary embraces the philosophy that all children can learn and that it “takes a village” to fulfill this belief.
We are embarking on another wonderful journey together. While there may be challenges, be assured your child will experience and thrive on countless opportunities for success at RvES. We are the Home of the Eagles and our colors are blue, black and silver. Riverview Elementary will take flight on Thursday, August 9th… prepare to soar!
